Community

Our generation deeply longs for relationships - one of God’s highest priorities. Kairos seeks to facilitate meaningful relationships that are accountable, encouraging, and challenging within a community that reflects the diversity and richness of the kingdom of God. Building on the foundation of Christ and the Scriptures, Kairos strives to mature in the faith, while keeping a proper balance between intimacy and exclusivity, commitment and freedom. We do this in a variety of ways:

Outreach

Christ commanded His followers to do as He did while on earth, by serving people with compassion and humility. Kairos seeks to encourage true servanthood within our many areas of influence – not only in the smaller spheres of home, office, and church, but also in the broader context of our city, nation, and world. As a corporate body, Kairos has determined its desire and commitment to obey Christ by serving “the least of these” (Matthew 25:39-46) and to meet the needs of the widow, the orphan, the alien, and those who are impoverished.

Worship

Scripture tells us that we worship God when we offer our very lives to Him as living sacrifices (Romans 12:1). Our goal as believers is to live a lifestyle of worship, seeking to honor the Lord in all we are and do – in our work, relationships, decision-making, use of time, and so on. We believe that worship is not only something we engage in on Sundays when we gather together, but is also a perspective we pursue on a daily basis in our individual lives.

Worship is an integral aspect of Kairos and our effort to grow toward God, both individually and corporately. Worship brings us closer to our Heavenly Father and His beloved Son, Jesus Christ. Kairos’ corporate worship service pulls from its liturgical roots in the Anglican church, while also incorporating contemporary music, hymns, silence, prayer, and other modes of worship - all intended to bring us closer to the heart and character of God.

N.T. Wright ruminates about corporate worship this way: "Worship is humble and glad; worship forgets itself in remembering God; worship celebrates the truth as God's truth, not its own. True worship doesn't put on a show or make a fuss; true worship isn't forced, isn't half-hearted, doesn't keep looking at its watch, doesn't worry what the person in the next pew may be doing. True worship is open to God, adoring God, waiting for God, trusting God even in the dark."

Spiritual Growth

Kairos provides a place to seek, find, and grow in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. This relationship is developed through prayer, reflection, discussion, and learning; a vital component of growth is study of the Bible in order to understand and apply it to daily life.

Kairos is a Christ-centered place where we can wonder at beauty, experience emotions, enjoy the arts, expand intellectually, think critically, and grow spiritually. Christ desires that we would "have life and have it abundantly" as we relish what it is to be human and made in the image and likeness of God.
