What is the Listserv?

The Kairos Listserv is a great tool for the community and is a way to alert one another of important events happening in our midst, both Kairos events as well as things some of us want to invite others to.

That said, the Listserv is a "limited public forum" that we try to reserve for Kairos events. We trust everyone's discretion in its use, which is why anyone who subscribes can post.

If you have a question about something you'd like to post, please email Dean Miller (dmiller@thefallschurch.org) or Julianna Hutchins (jhutchins@thefallschurch.org) for input.

Please do not post:

  • Politically- or issue-oriented info about rallies, fundraising events, and the like.
  • Multiple emails about the same event. Send out an initial email to the listserv and then work directly with those who reply to that email.
  • Information about ministry support-raising or fundraisers.
  • Job postings, housing postings, and items for sale or give-away. Please make use of our classifieds pages for these instead.
  • Prayer requests.
The best way to both honor the intent of the Listserv as well as to communicate to others about the types of events listed above is to rely on word-of-mouth and private emails.

General info about the Listserv:

Kairos uses a Yahoo group to host its Listserv. In light of that, there are a few things we’d like for everyone to know:
  • Kairos reserves the right to remove any subscriber or message from the Kairos group as we deem necessary.
  • Kairos does not intend to imply support of the ads that accompany Yahoo group emails, nor do we want to imply support of all other Yahoo groups.
  • Kairos has chosen to use its Yahoo group as a mailing list, not as a fully functional Yahoo group; this means that a Yahoo ID is not required to subscribe to the Kairos group, which in turn means that our group does not use the message board, calendar, and other additional functions.

How do I subscribe to the Listserv?

(We recommend reading through all of the directions below first! It may help avoid confusion during the subscription process.)
  • Send an email to: KairosTFC-subscribe@yahoogroups.com asking to subscribe. You will need to include the following in your email:
    • Your first and last name
    • The email address you wish to be subscribed to the group
    • Your subject line should read: add me to the Kairos listserv!
  • If approved, you will be added to the group in 2-3 days. Once you have been added to the group, you will receive a welcome email from the listserv.

How do I send a message to the Listserv?

(You must be a subscribed member to do this.)
  • Open a new email message.
  • Address it to: KairosTFC@yahoogroups.com.
  • You do not have to log in to Yahoo to send a message. 

How do I unsubscribe from the Listserv?

  • Simply click on the "unsubscribe" link at the end of any email you receive via the Listserv, OR send an email message (no subject line or text needed) to: KairosTFC-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com.
  • You will then receive an email requesting confirmation; simply reply to the email and you will receive a final email reflecting your un-subscription.

Having problems subscribing?

All problems should be addressed by following directions included in information provided by Yahoo. Kairos does not control the subscription process. Please remember that some employers prevent employees from subscribing to such groups via their work email address.
