On the second Sunday of each month, the Kairos community makes an offering of our resources to support our church and participate in the work of God's kingdom through various ministry and community partnerships.

Education and Transformation in Africa

Founded by Edith Gitao to lift young Kenyans from poverty through education and spiritual formation, the Akiba School enrolls about 400 students in the sprawling Kangemi slum of Nairobi, Kenya.

Anglican Bishop John Rucyahana established the Sonrise School in Ruhengeri, Rwanda, as a beacon of hope in a devastated country. The school enrolls over 600 students, many of them genocide/AIDS orphans.

Southeast White House and Q Street Building

The Southeast DC Partners make present Christ's light and love to the communities of Randle Highlands and Anacostia through relationships of prayer, reconciliation, discipleship and youth mentoring. Ministry continues at the Little White House as construction of a new community center is underway on Q Street.

Church Plants

Joined by several Kairos families, Tim Clayton planted the Eleuthero Community in Portland, Maine, to live and worship together in Christian simplicity and solidarity with the natural environment and marginalized populations.

Together with members of Kairos, Bill Haley planted St. Brendans Church (Anglican) and the Coracle Community in an underprivileged neighborhood in Northeast DC, integrating orthodoxy and compassionate social action.

Five Talents Micro-Finance Initiative in Thika

In September 2007, Kairos met a partnership goal with Five Talents International and the Thika Community Development Trust to support small entrepreneurs with loans and education while promoting social and spiritual well-being in the poverty/AIDS-stricken community of Thika, Kenya.

Community Needs

Kairos follows the example of the first communities of believers described in Acts 2 who stewarded their resources and "distributed them to all, as any had need," providing for urgent or emergency needs of our community, whether individual members, families, neighbors, or the community as a whole.
